Providing Quality Education to Underprivileged Youngsters
When Puratos first started operating in India in 2008, we needed outstanding in-house bakery skills to help our clients make even better bread, patisserie and chocolate items. However, we had difficulties finding skilled technical advisors, and observed that our customers were struggling to find skilled labor too.
At the same time, we also noticed many kids on the streets of India. These were youngsters with little hope for the future, and whose parents were earning minimal wages and had no possibility to invest in their children’s education.
Based on our observations, we decided to combine the opportunity to develop skilled bakers, pastry chefs and chocolatiers, and tackle the education problem at the same time.
The Bakery School Foundation was established to provide quality education to youngsters from disadvantaged backgrounds. We believe that investing in education is one of the best ways to empower people and communities, and to make a tangible impact on society.
Education Beyond Basics
Our comprehensive courses go beyond basic education with subjects such as math, language, computer and finance. We equip students with practical bakery, patisserie and chocolate training. The program includes internships at different companies where students not only get real-world experience, but also get paid for their work.
Creating Opportunities for Graduates
Our commitment extends beyond education. We are dedicated to helping our graduates succeed by offering employment opportunities based on merit and achievement. We assist them in finding meaningful work within our subsidiary companies or with our customers, ensuring they have the chance to pursue their passion and build a successful career.
Our ambition for the future
By 2030 we plan to open 20 Bakery Schools and welcome 1.000 students on a yearly basis.
